I've never really enjoyed "politics" online. There's already enough disagreements in the real world and I prefer not to have to run through them in forums, feeds or whatnot; it's generally just not worth the time. I remember a time when a poster threatened to sue me on MTF. You just try to be the best person you can be and don't pay too much attention to things like that, and have more power that way. Of course, if a person is way out of line, you can speak up and take suitable courses of action, but don't let that single person's nastiness ruin your enjoyment of life, or else they'll be the one controlling you.
When the day comes when you get a group of people lie about you and then try to turn a whole forum against you based on lies - and not a single person from that supposed "team" back you up you'll understand what it's like.

Funny story - I've seen her in Eastbourne every year I've been - every time she's lost in 1R. 2017 - she was due to play on a Sunday, when I partly had something else to go to - so I ummed and ahhed about it and decided not to go to Eastbourne - and she won. Then the 2R match when I went - she lost  .

I just checked Andreas' profile and last time he was active was Jan 2019 and only 6 posts in 2 and a half years, tbh they really should've cleared out the deadwood before appointing new blood, and yeah completely agree with the bolded part.
TF is obviously run differently as it’s up to the Admins alone who is and isn’t an Admin/Mod and to get rid of any driftwood. I don't agree with this, the active admins and mods on their now i'd say are pretty fair and I'd guess all had clean records before they were made Admin or mod, plus i'd think they'd have the commonsense not to give anyone that position with such a poor record. I think you're judging MTF for what it used to be rather than it is now, nearly all of them weren't even members of the forum while you were Admin. I agree with you that people with 5 infractions have no right to be a mod but that's on the old lot.
I’m not criticising the current team as individual people because apart from Matthew I don’t think I know any of them, not even sure I know who they are now. But I do criticise the tone and history of that forum, that’s what I mean about the poison running down though, pretty fair ain’t good enough – totally fair is. Yeah VS are pretty hopeless. I would never do the job you guys do on TF/MTF simply because I'd lose my patience pretty easily with them.
Well, on that one I’m not sure what to make of it. Prior to the “upgrade” we’ve always been left to handle everything the way we felt it should be run with zero interference. The thing that concerns me the most is the post editing issue. I’m sick and tired of the excuses we’re getting every time I raise it with them – that’s true.

Well I don’t know any of the current Admins (well obviously Andreas – who to my knowledge is still there, so I'd not bet my life that it’s cleaned up since then) apart from Matthew, who I’ve never had an issue with and get on very well with on a personal basis, oh and I did once meet Martin/dinkulpus in the flesh in London on the middle Sunday of Wimbledon in 2012 or 2013.
It’ll always be a matter of integrity to me - the fact of the matter to me is still that wrongs were done and were never righted, it is known who did the wrongs, people were banned and punished by Domi, who had 5 infractions for bullying so shouldn’t ever have been in that position to ban people (it’s like Joan Ferguson being in charge of Cell Block H), the rest of that team were happy to keep quiet about it and those people who’ve been wrongly punished still haven’t had the justice that they deserve which was the reason why I left. Although I got a lifetime membership there as an ex-Mod I rarely post there – I used to post in that TF complaints thing when people mouthed off about supposed wrong infractions they had there. I’d always ask them for the full details of what these were but not once did anyone ever write to me with anything that proved wrong infractions. If I’d ever found out that a past Admin in TF had been in that same position, the instant I found out every single infraction they’d given would have been removed from any posters records with immediate effect, but that’s just the type of person I am, I just can’t sit by and watch injustices happen.
I've never had a warning myself as I've always been a good boy in both forums.
Yeah I forgot about Andreas, he shouldn't be an admin based on his activity (or lack thereof) hasn't posted in years, he's just dead wood that they've not removed yet.
Yeah I agree that it's disgraceful that someone was made Admin/Mod based on such a shitty record of infractions. Its like having someone like Burrow or tribalfusion on that position in this day, that really highlights the incompetence of the Admin/Mod team that were around back then and I'm certain the current mtf group wouldn't allow such a thing to happen. And yeah once proved innocent the wrongs should've been righted. I'm sure if some of them appealed they would get them removed, although I doubt many of them give a **** about MTF now and have moved on, kinda similar to how you moved on and became admin on TF.
And I've also got a pretty clean record. That warning by TV was the only one I had before that incident and since that incident, which is more reason why it should've been handled differently. I couldn't even be arsed appealing it simply because it wasn't a ban, but even if it was I'd just either create my own forum like I did here or just move somewhere else to chat **** about tennis, it wouldn't be the end of the world.
Not posted in years – yet still an Admin – that’s appalling, I thought a forum was meant to be run for the benefit of the posters and inactive people benefit no-one. The first thing us three new Admins did upon becoming Admins was bring in an unwritten but agreed rule that after 3 months of inactivity a team member gets removed. That would’t wash with me because I also know how the Admin CP works, it is totally simple to right those wrongs – one could easily get a list of infractions any member of a team had given in any period and reverse them (although fair enough I grant you that now they’ve changed the forum layout since this “upgrade”) There’s nothing to prove – people with 5 infractions have no right to even be a Mod, let alone an Admin – and certainly have no right to infract other posters - that’s the poison that you will forever have running through MTF. But as you say I did move on – I do still regret that V/S chose not to help me help those others but have done everything in my power to make sure that TF never veered into that same direction.

All the Admins/Mods that were around when you were on MTF are either gone now or removed from power. I've no doubt what you're saying about the **** that went on back then is true though because I've heard similar things from some of the other older members.
The current Admins/Mods are far from perfect by any stretch but they're not as power hungry as you're describing here. Slasher when he was admin was certainly one that liked to throw his weight around and liked to abuse his power. I never had any interactions with him myself, I'm just judging this on what I've seen. The rest of the current team are fairly lenient in comparison to the Admins/Mods in your time.
And yeah I have the same principles as you in regards to bans, we should always go out our way to avoid bans instead of enforce them. An example I'll use here is back in 2017 I received an official warning from TV over a nothing argument I had with RAFAism, a known troll at the time, which stayed on record for 12 months, given that the incident would've blown over a simple PM or quick unofficial warning in the thread would've been a better solution rather than hand out infractions. Banning people should be a last resort. Tbf I think TV mellowed over the last year, I don't have any issues with him at all now, but back then I thought he liked to assert his authority a bit too much.

Yeah I never implied it brought traffic or I wanted it here, I slasher gave up on it anyway and ditched it after a few people gave it constructive critism, he threw his toys out the pram. He's basically left MTF now and apparently has a job with the ATP from what I hear.
He had the sensitivity to ask me the week after MTF demodded me I could help him with his project as I had some old ATP newsletters.  From what I've seen most mods/Admins in MTF see the having the power to ban/punish posters as being the priority when in fact it should be in your mentality that it's the last thing any Mod/Admin should ever want to do. It's tons more rewarding to try to sort out an argument behind the scenes without having to punish anyone.

She never understood – it was never about power, it was about the way posters were treated. V/S (some idiot called Marco I think it was and some other woman) had a real-time chat with me and sfar when all that stuff took off. I’d just become a mod in TF as well and later on she said they’d offer me advancement in TF if I continued to do TT management in MTF – I told them to f*** off and that’s when we both left. Re:Punky – it’s not my issue to discuss but the facts are somewhat different to what you’ve stated. I continued doing what I did in that forum instead and ended up becoming Admin there on merit. Andreas tried to ruin it for me there too but as I’d told that team everything that happened, he didn’t have any luck with that. The funny thing is everyone said to me I bet the first thing you’ll now do is ban him, but I never did.
All this stuff you’ve posted about V/S is very interesting though – obviously our team has been posting our opinions on the recent “improvements” and highlighting the problems it’s causing at the moment - this is giving an indication of why we’ve not had much response lately.

Well, I don't care as long as the morning chat is alive with Mimi. also, i won't spam too much here cause i don't want to scare the young uns away, you know i'm a big rambler and i could post in all my free time, anyway, if you guys have questions about the history of tennis forums and old times i'll be around. Even though according to Time Violation i know nothing because when he started sneaking around on t4u with a previously dormant account i thought for a day or 2 that he was sham kay 
Well I was sadly there to witness the downfall of that place - Snowwy, Scoobs and Carlita all left the month after I because a Mod there. That then left Di and Andreas, Andreas bullied posters and Di was useless - they they picked Sham and Domi (who had 5 infractions for bullying posters). Now the point of being an Admin/Mod of a forum is to ensure a forum is fairly run - they were poison and every single person who followed is no better because they know of this and not a single person acted against them or ever righted those wrongs. The plus point to all this is that I learnt well from my awful time there and can 100% guarantee that there's never been an unfair infraction in TF during my time (and I'm pretty confident from before as I've looked into complaints when I took over as Admin).

for me the mtf question was always simple, especially since i had had forums before, i know the place is in the wrong hands, you don't have a say in what's gonna happen, like they stripped the place of gif smileys etc and you can do nothing about it, what Adey said, always had bad moderator problems, it's a waste of time... As I said it's so bad in every way i wouldn't waste a minute there. It's for power hunting ninja kids like TV.

No disrespect to you guys as I have an aversion to MTF Admins - I still get the Facebook group feed and saw this - it's interesting that the V/S situation looks to be this way.

I had an account on TF. I think I made it in 2016 or 17 iirc. I only posted like 2 or 3 times but now I can't login at all. Not that I'm bothered about that as I haven't visited there in a long time.
Since site upgrade there's been lots of spam threads appearing and it's slower to navigate the forum, some "upgrade" eh. I don't know if it's the same with TF but that's how it is on MTF now with lots of posters just bailing.
What's the username in TF?
Well so far it's not too bad - we've weathered the storm ok - but I can see the way it might well go in the future.
I'm cmchelsea on TF as well, I think I only posted once or twice though.

Sapeod barely posts on MTF now. Maybe he is Steve though and is in that much ruins over GOATrays situation, plus he's a fed fan too, he might be in that much ruins that he bought over VS just to kill off MTF.
I always thought Uncle Steve never watched a tennis match, but maybe its the opposite and he's just a ruined Fedtard that would rather kill MTF before Djokodal breaks the slam records.

The real Steve was a very old guy, Steve Ingram if i remember rightly, he was 70ish looking already around 2010 if you remember his old mtf avi, they announced his death a few years ago, i don't know if it was on an admin forum or in some net article. The vs guys even admitted that they were using the old owner's account  I think from the new crew only vs jeff has his own account on mtf.
Yeah Jeff has his own account, but I'm pretty sure I've seen him use the Steve account as well. Not sure why VS would need two accounts when they don't even answer any questions from the one account.
Didn't know the real Steve passed away. I wish VS just sold MTF to a company that would actually be helpful to the forum instead of letting it die and as I type this I see GM slammed with these ad threads.
Also I was looking at the link you gave me, even in 2009 there were people that sold there forums to VS saying they killed there forum, twiteer and FB hadn't really blown up yet at the time so they can't blame it on that, I think most of the blame for mtf dying is on VS.
I actually don't think that's the case at least around the time i left there - shyte Admins who should never have even been Mods, who bullied posters and gave out unfair infractions didn't help matters there. TF has the rightful reputation of people getting fair treatment because they know for a fact that I wouldn't ever say nothing and watch anything like that ever happen to anyone else. But the password issue was a disaster on both sites - but TF probably did less badly because we decided to send personal e mails from our own accounts to all posters. Since the latest "upgrade" - it is now quite concerning the lack of response we're getting from V/S
